The Verdict
I was a little hesitant about making this ice cream, because I’m not a big fan of Lemon Sorbet…but this is ice cream – so what could go wrong? I dunno. I was dragging my feet in trying it.
However, I heard so many people rave about this ice cream – that I finally decided I just had to give it a try!

Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ½ cup lemon juice
- 2 tbsp freshly grated lemon peel (optional)
Instructions
- Whisk milk and sugar together (about 1-2 minutes) until sugar completely dissolves.
- Stir in whipping cream, lemon juice, and grated lemon peel until well-blended.
- Pour immediately into ice cream maker (do not chill in fridge or lemon juice may curdle the milk).
- Mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Ingredients
Lemon
- 2 tbsp freshly grated lemon peel (optional)
- ½ cup lemon juice
- ¾ cup sugar
Ice Cream Base
- 4 egg yolks
- pinch salt
- 1 cup milk
- 2 cups heavy cream
Instructions
Lemon
- Mix grated lemon peel and lemon juice together. Stir in sugar. Chill in fridge to enhance flavor.
Ice Cream Base
- Beat eggs with salt well.
- Heat milk in saucepan until it just begins to boil.
- Pour hot milk over beaten eggs; mix well.
- Pour milk mixture back into saucepan.
- Heat. Stir constantly until mixture begins to stick to the back of your spoon and becomes thick. Don’t let it boil!
- Chill for at least 2 hours.
- Stir in lemon mixture and heavy cream.
- Pour into your ice cream maker.
- Mix about 25-30 minutes or according to manufacturer’s instructions.
