Fun Fact of the Day: Chocolate Chips
Ever wonder where chocolate chips came from?
Chocolate chips were unheard of until the invention of the chocolate chip cookie in 1937.
Nestle was the first to popularize this cookie…and people loved it!
Originally and almost hilariously to our modern mind, Nestle sold a small chopping tool with their chocolate bars so that people could make chocolate chip cookies from their chocolate bars.
It wasn’t until 1941 that Nestle came up with the wonderful idea of the chocolate chip. They ditched the chopping tool and began selling chocolate “pre-cut;” thus contributing to the overall betterment of society…well, at least in my opinion!
Serving Tip
Drizzle with chocolate sauce and serve with your favorite chocolate chip cookies!
